The wild rose is the provincial flower of my adopted home province of Alberta. wild-rose-20Revered by the First Nations for its medicinal wonders, this hardy shrub, with its fragrant and eye-catching blooms, is a symbol of tenacity, perseverance, triumph, healing and beauty in the face of adversity and challenges. After all, does not adversity build character? That’s what I keep telling myself, anyways. I’ve always loved the wild rose, so it didn’t take long for me to find my inspiration in it. Welcome to Where the Wild Rose Grows!

I am Rheagan, daughter of Christ, bride of Scott, mum to Little Miss, fur-mom to one peculiar little sheltie and two lovely horses, equestrienne, avid foodie, proud Irish- and Ukrainian-Canadian, new homeowner, executive-assistant-wanna-be-homemaker, emotional abuse survivor, autoimmune disease patient, genealogy buff, lover of all things homemade, compulsive holiday host, aspiring aromatherapist, soon-to-be ACOD, and current Calgarian.

I’ve come to firmly believe in living the life with which you’ve been blessed to the fullest by investing in it fully! Taking care of myself was never high on my priority list. I was far too busy always putting in 110% for everyone and everything else, leaving very little for myself. When Scott and I hit some extremely stressful and demanding circumstances, my body, and to some extent my mind, began to fall apart. I just didn’t have anything left to give. I was completely run dry. I am now on a mission to heal myself and my family and live a full and God-honouring life through faith, diet, natural living, and alternative therapies.

I am chronicling my journey here, and I’m excited to share it with you! My hope and prayer is that you will find something useful, encouraging, inspiring, or interesting among my musings. Or maybe just a little something to brighten your day!
